leaf collection set for November

Almost since the beginning of time, writers have waxed poetic about the beauty of fall, especially the brilliant, but fleeting colors of fall leaves. But after they loose their color and drift to the ground, they have to be raked up and disposed of. Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Rose Marie Walker reminds residents that the Town's 2007 Leaf Collection Program will take place during the month of November.

The special leaf collection program will begin on Thursday, November 1, and end on Friday, November 30. Bagged leaves will

be picked up on regular Sanitation Collection

days by the combined forces of the Sanitation & Recycling Collection and Highway Divisions.

Residents should place their bagged leaves at the curb with their garbage. Sanitation crews will collect up to 10 bags twice a week. Locations that have 11 or more bags will have the excess picked up by Highway personnel the following day.

The Highway Division will pick up bagged leaves in unincorporated areas that do not receive Town sanitation every Monday for the duration of the leaf collection program.

For further information about leaf collection, contact the Sanitation & Recycling Collection Division at 677-5848- 5849-5850 or the Highway Division at 677- 5700.
