Farmingdale band prepares for upcoming season

Fall season sports have begun and the Farmingdale High School Band and Dalerettes have been busy preparing themselves for the upcoming season. About 200 high school students piled into four coach buses packed with all the instruments and equipment they would need to begin practicing at band camp. Under the supervision of band director Ms. Pelletiere, assistant band director Mrs. Segale, as well as Dalerette coaches Ms. Hanson and Ms. Barruso, students traveled up to Greely, Pennsylvania to begin their long weekend of work. Teacher Ms. Crevoiserat, Fine Arts Director Rita Padden, chaperone coordinators Mrs. Ferrari, Mrs. Tuzzolo and Mr. Donaldson and 26 volunteer chaperone moms and dads joined the venture to help out for the weekend.

The 160 band students and 40 Dalerettes spent countless hours from Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning working on their upcoming football season half time show. Students worked in sweltering heat from morning to night conducting drills, practicing music and marching. On Sunday morning the chaperones and teachers were able to observe the progress the students made over the

course of the week. Conducted by 2007 drum majors Ali Bendik, Nicole Claase, Rich Cheeks and Dalerettes captains Julia Castaldi, Ashley Scotti, Dana Gibilaro and Kim Valdini, the group proved they were ready for the upcoming season.

Farmingdale invites residents to visit the upcoming October Homecoming and football games. The

Dalerettes are ready to perform their 2007 show, Rock this Way. The game and pre-game festivities will be on Friday, October 26, 2007. The pep rally begins at 4:45 p.m. and the game against Oceanside is at 6:30 p.m.
