MPK Mayor discusses policing concerns

At its October 2007 general membership meeting, the Nassau County Village Officials Association (NCVOA) addressed the timely topic of public safety and the Nassau County Police Department. The NCVOA represents 64 incorporated villages with more than 4 3 0 , 0 0 0 residents.

Lawrence Mulvey Lawrence W. Mulvey was the guest speaker. During his presentation, Commissioner Mulvey identified DWI enforcement and gun control as his main priorities. He also discussed his rationale for requesting an increase in police staffing from the current level of 2,600 officers to 2,750 officers by next year.

Following the formal program, Massapequa Park Mayor James Altadonna, who also serves as NCVOA president, questioned the commissioner about his policing plans for Massapequa Park
