Oyster Bay Town reappoints landmarks commission member

The Oyster Bay Town Board has approved the reappointment of Karen Strom of Woodbury to fill vacancies on the Town's Landmarks Preservation Commission, announced Town Councilman Anthony D. Macagnone.

Strom is a founding partner of the law firm of Schroeder & Strom, LLC, which concentrates exclusively in real property tax review proceedings. She has lectured and written extensively on real property tax appeals and related matters and is active in a number of organizations, including the National Association of Women Business Owners and the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society. She also was appointed to a three-year term terminating on June 21, 2010.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission was formed in 1974 to recommend for preservation sites and structures within the Town which have historical, architectural or antiquarian significance. The seven members of the Commission serve without monetary compensation. Currently, 38 buildings, one railroad turntable and one cemetery have Town landmark status.
