Free Diabetes & Wound Care Workshop Nov. 12

Senator Kemp Hannon and New Island Hospital are sponsoring a free diabetic and wound care workshop on Monday, November 12, at the Farmingdale Library, 116 Merritts Rd., 9 a.m. to 2:30 pm.. A free breakfast provided by Family Care and lunch provided by VNS of New York will be provided.

Services provided are: glucose testing, cholesterol and lipid blood tests, flu and pneumonia immunizations, foot exams by Dr. Michael Tumen DPM, blood pressures, Brown Bag Medication Program (bring all your medicines in a brown paper bag) and New Island Hospital pharmacists will review your medications with you. Nutritionist will discuss healthy diets. Sign up for free monthly diabetes support group (duration: one year for the first 25 people). Free Lectures will be on diabetes management by Joseph Nespola, MD, including home care, wound care, and hyperbaric medicine from Med-Air.
