Tax increases are inevitable

Dear Editor:

As we approach election day, I am always amazed at the anti-tax rhetoric spewed by all the hopefuls attempting to unseat the incumbents. These who hope to be elected blame the incumbents for our high taxes and promise to lower taxes, or at least hold the line. Unfortunately, these who hope to be elected have a very poor grasp on the reality of the situation - everything goes up, including taxes.

If you want the good life like we have here in Nassau County you must pay for it. Good schools, good parks, good roads etc. cost money and the money comes from taxes, no ifs, ands or buts. The answer to me is if you don't like the cost, you'll have to leave the area.
