The Massapequa Garden Club received the first place trophy in the Club Challenge competition at the Hofstra Flower Show, September 29 and 30. The competition challenge was to design a room featuring a flower arrangement with the theme of Art for Art's Sake. Massapequa Garden Club members designed a pale blue room showing a vignette of After the Ballet.
Club officers accepted the trophy, an engraved silver plate, at the Second District (L.I.) Federated Garden Club meeting on October 22. The District itself has a silver bowl that is inscribed with the name of the winner and the date of the contest. The club also received two blue ribbons: one for the award and one for scoring 95 points and above in the judging.
The Massapequa Garden Club meets the third Wednesday of every month except November and December at 7:30 p.m. in the basement meeting room at Village Hall, 151 Front St., Massapequa Park.
