Molloy College inducts local resident into the Hall of Fame
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- On October 12, Molloy College inducted the Class of 2007 Hall of Fame inductees. The Hall of Fame recognizes the outstanding contributions that student athletes have made to Molloy College. This year's five inductees included local resident Edward Modica, first athletic trainer.

Modica was the first athletic trainer at Molloy from 1989-2001 and is the first honorary member of the Molloy Athletic Hal of Fame. His passion for athletic training and student athletes was second to none. While at Molloy, he was charged with establishing the standards and protocols that have paved the way for all athletic trainers to follow. He provided coverage for all practices and contests for eleven Division II teams. His work ethic was tremendous.

Modica has an extensive background. He was employed as an orthopedic technician/personal assistant to the world renowned orthopedic Irving V. Glick, M.D. and orthopedic surgeon for the New York Jets, Kenneth D. Montgomery, M.D. He was also an athletic trainer for Pro/ HEALTH Care Associates for eight years and served as an athletic trainer for the Unites States Tennis Association US Open for five years. He is currently the Head Athletic Trainer for the New York Dragons, a member of the Arena Football League.

As a student at Hofstra University, he was the vice president and cofounder of the Hofstra University Student Athletic Trainers Club. Prior to graduation, he did an internship as an athletic trainer with the New York Jets. Modica graduated in 1991 with a bachelor of science degree in exercise physiology and Athletic Training. Edward was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in 2004.

Currently, Modica resides in Massapequa with his wife, Denise, a Molloy graduate and former studentathlete. The Modicas have three children, Eddie Jr., Robbie and Mark.
