Plainedge High School Seniors Conor Duross, Kristen Ferguson, Lindsay Walker, Samantha Genduso and Michael Chin have been selected as Commended Students in the 2008 Merit Scholarship Program. These students are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on their qualifying tests used for program entry.

"I am extremely proud of these hard-working students," said Plainedge High School Principal Robert Amster. "Their achievements are a warranted recognition for their dedication and focus."

Over 1.4 million students took the 2006 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last October and entered the National Merit Program, which is a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Roughly 34,000 high school students were chosen for this distinct recognition.
