Massapequa Schools Recognize World AIDS Awareness Week

The Massapequa Public Schools HIV/AIDS Advisory Committee wishes to note that World AIDS Awareness Week is recognized from Dec. 3 to 7. As part of this weeklong program, quilt panels from the Names Project will be displayed in the district's three secondary schools, and will also be available for public viewing.

The Massapequa Public Schools HIV/AIDS Advisory Committee, consisting of school and community members, was established in line with New York State regulation for the purpose of research, development and management of HIV/AIDS awareness programs in the district.

The committee was instrumental in partnering with the Names Project to bring the quilts to Massapequa, which will provide an effective point of discussion and reflection for our secondary students.

Community members are invited to a public viewing of the quilt panels in the Baldwin Auditorium at Massapequa High School on Thursday, Dec. 6, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Massapequa High School Peer Educators will be on hand to welcome visitors and to answer questions. All are welcome.
