Mejias officially reelected after close race in 14th L.D.

N.C. LEG. Dave Mejias (D-Farmingdale) was officially named the winner in the undecided race for Nassau's 14th Legislative District. Mejias' victory allows the Democrats to maintain their 10-9 majority in the Nassau County Legislature

"We were confident in a victory on election night, and I am proud and humbled by the continued trust and support of my constituents," Mejias said. "I will continue to work hard for my district."

Mejias was opposed by Republican Joe Belesi.

Throughout his tenure in the legislature, Mejias has introduced and supported legislation that helps and protects the people of Nassau's 14th Legislative District. Earlier this year Mejias proposed the nationally recognized Social Host Law which allows for the criminal prosecution of party hosts whose underage guests are found to be consuming alcohol. Mejias has represented the 14th Legislative District for four years.

The district covers parts of Plainview, Bethpage, Old Bethpage, Farmingdale, South Farmingdale, Plainedge, Levittown, Wantagh, North Wantagh, North Massapequa, and East Massapequa.
