K of C makes charitable donation

The Long Island chapter of the Tourettes Syndrome (TS) Association was presented with a check for $1,000 at a Memorare Knights of Columbus (Seaford) meeting on October 3 by Grand Knight Larry Zontini and Memorare Charitable FoundationPresident Mike Murphy . On hand to receive the gift was Demetria Marino, secretary of LI TS Association and her son Michael. According to Demetria, TS is a medical disorder characterized by involuntary tics and rapid, sudden movements and/or vocal outbursts. TS usually emerges between five and 18 years of age. The donation will aid the all-volunteer group which relies solely on public support to fund programs in local schools and promote social events among youth with TS. Anyone interested in learning more about TS, or who want to make a donation, or learn how the group may provide programming in their own local community or school may call 876-6947 or email them at LongIslandTSA@aol.com.
