Former Pequan pens autobiographical book

Pete Michel, a former resident of Massapequa and former student of the Massapequa School System has written and published a book entitled Can of Corn, a Baseball Memoir.

Michel fondly refers to Massapequa many times throughout the book. Remembering Little League sign-ups through high school. He was part of the first graduating class of Massapequa High School in 1956.

As he approaches retirement, educator and coach, Michel looks back on the formative and profound experiences of his life, threading the account through the lens of his passionate involvement with the sport of baseball. From his early years playing on Long Island, to his many years in coaching at the high school and collegiate level, the sport serves as a prism to gain a deeper understanding into the successes and challenges in one man's life and those around him.

From marriage and fatherhood to career changes and health issues, join Michel as he celebrates the joy and struggle inherent in forging a winning nine on the ball field and a purposeful life off the diamond.

Michel is formerly the baseball coach for the University of New Hampshire club team and resides in Dover, New Hampshire with his wife Ruth.
