Robert Watson: mechanic troubleshooter for Pan Am

Longtime Massapequa Park resident Robert L. Watson who spent his adult life as an expert airplane mechanic and worked for Pan American Airlines died November 12, 2007. He was 75 years old.

Born May 7, 1932 to Anna and Thomas, he was a decorated Air Force Veteran who went on to become a National Airlines mechanic and line foreman. During his many years at Pan Am, he was a much-sought-after troubleshooter and mechanic specialist who received calls from pilots the world over when questions arose mid-flight.

Mr. Watson leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Robert Swanson, Carol Dyer, Janice Jones, Pat DeGraw, Joan O'Brien, Carol Caulfield, Barbara Burns, Ed, George, John, Tom, Eileen, Bill, James and Joanne; as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Helen Lowe, George, Ed, Tom, John Watson and Lillian Swanson.

He reposed at the Massapequa Funeral Home, 1050 Park Boulevard, Massapequa Park on November 15, 2007. A Religious Service was held at the Funeral Home on November 16, 2007 followed by interment in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
