PUBLIC NOTICE The Town Board of the Town of Oyster Bay, adopted Local Law No. 2- 2008, on January 29, 2008 A LOCAL LAW TO EXTEND THE PRESENT MORATORIUM ON THE ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW OR EXPANDED BUILDINGS, DEMOLITION PERMITS, SUBDIVISION APPROVALS AND VARIANCES RELATED TO LOT AREA, LOT DIMENSIONS AND SETBACKS FOR NEW BUILDINGS WITHIN THE MASSAPEQUA MORATORIUM STUDY AREA BY AN ADDITIONAL PERIOD OF SIX (6) MONTHS. The Town Board of the Town of Oyster Bay remains concerned with respect to the potential impact of development and redevelopment of residential properties located in the Massapequa area on the density and character of existing residential neighborhoods. In an effort to have a study prepared of potential future development and/or redevelopment in this area based upon current zoning standards and other applicable controls, this local law will extend, for an additional period of six (6) months, the moratorium on the issuance of building permits for the construction of new or expanded buildings, demolition permits, subdivision approvals and variances related to lot area, lot dimensions and setbacks for new buildings within the Massapequa Moratorium study Area. The moratorium extension provisions contained in this local law apply to the properties located within the Massapequa Moratorium Study Area. This local law includes a provision for possible discharge from the moratorium terms for emergency purposes, as determined by the Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development.
