Resolution At a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library, Town of Babylon, County of Suffolk and Town of Oyster Bay, County of Nassau, New York, held at the Amityville Library, corner of John Street and Oak Street, Amityville, New York on the 17th day of January, 2008 at 7:30 P.M. prevailing time. The following resolution was offered by Trustee Joyce Jardine, who moved its adoption, seconded by Trustee Lawrence Brennan, to wit: WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library to hold a Special District Meeting of the Amityville Union Free School District for the purpose of voting upon the Library budget and electing one (1) Trustee to the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library, Town of Babylon, Suffolk County and Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, New York, as follows: Section 1. That a Special District Meeting of the qualified voters of the Amityville Union Free School District shall be held at the Amityville Public Library, corner of John Street and Oak Street, Amityville, New York, in said school district on the 3rd day of April, 2008 at 12:00 noon, prevailing time, upon the Budget of the Amityville Public Library. Voting will be by ballot on voting machines or by paper ballot, if voting machines are not available. Polls for the purpose of voting will be kept open between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 o'clock P.M., prevailing time. Section 2. That the proposition to be voted upon shall be in the following form: PROPOSITION Shall the following proposition be adopted: RESOLVED, that the school district library budget, as proposed by the Library Trustees in accordance with section 259 of the Education Law, shall be approved. Section 3. That at said Special District Meeting to be held on April 3, 2008, there shall be elected one (1) Trustee of the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library. The term of one (1) such Trustee to run for the period July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2013. Section 4. That notice of the said Special District Meeting, including the proposition to be voted upon, shall be in substantially the following form, to wit: PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING, AMITYVILLE U.F.S.D. TOWN OF BABYLON, SUFFOLK COUNTY AND TOWN OF OYSTER BAY, NASSAU COUNTY, NEW YORK NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Meeting of the Amityville Union Free School District, Town of Babylon, Suffolk County and Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, New York will be held at the Amityville Public Library, corner of John Street and Oak Street, Amityville, New York 11701 on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at which time voting on the library budget for the school year 2008-2009 and the election of one (1) member of the Board of Trustees will take place between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 p.m. prevailing time. Voting will be by ballot on voting machines or by paper ballot if voting machines are not available. Form of the proposition will be as follows: RESOLVED, that the school district library budget, as proposed by the Library Trustees in accordance with section 259 of the Education Law, shall be approved. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that a statement of the estimated library expenses for the school year 2008/2009 will be available and copies of such statement may be obtained at the library and each school in the district daily except Saturday and Sunday on and after March 20, 2008 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that candidates for the office of Trustee of the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library shall be nominated by petition. Petitions nominating candidates for the office of trustee of the Board of Trustees must be filed with the clerk of the school district between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. no later than March 4, 2008. Forms of petition may be obtained from the clerk of the school district. The following vacancies are to be filled for library trustee: one (1) five year term ending June 30, 2013. Each petition must be directed to the clerk of the district, must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) voters of the district or two percent (2%) of the voters who voted in the last annual school district election, whichever is greater; shall state the residence of the candidate and must describe the position for which the candidate is nominated. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to section 2014 of the Education Law, personal registration of voters is required and no person shall be entitled to vote at said meeting and election whose name does not already appear on the register of said school district, or who does not register as hereinafter provided, except as may otherwise be provided by the laws of the State of New York. The register so prepared includes all persons who have presented themselves personally for registration in accordance herewith, and all persons who shall have been registered previously hereunder for an Annual or Special Meeting or Election, and who shall have voted at any Annual Meeting or Election, held or conducted at any time within four (4) years prior to the preparation of the register. Applications for absentee ballots may be applied for at the office of the Clerk of the District, Park North Administration Building. A list of persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the said office of the Clerk on each of the five days prior to the day of the election except Saturdays and Sundays and such list will also be posted at the polling place at the election. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Board of Registration shall meet to prepare the register of the school district as follows: on March 27, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 P.M., prevailing time, at the Library, corner of John Street and Oak Street, Amityville, N.Y. 11701. Any person shall be entitled to have his or her name placed upon such register, provided that at such meeting of the Board of Registration he or she is known or proven to the satisfaction of such board of Registration to be then or thereafter entitled to vote at the school meeting or election for which such register is prepared.
