Local churches help the Gulf Coast
The churches of Long Island united to help the victims of the Gulf Coast during the President’s week school vacation. Fifty two members of the following churches: Circle of Love Ministry Worldwide, Copiague; Copiague Christian Church, Copiague; Full Gospel Christian Church, Copiague; Living Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Massapequa and Spirit and Truth Church, Bethpage, traveled to Moss Point, Mississippi to rebuild homes that were ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. Although this devastating event happened more than two years ago, there are still families that have not been able to return to their homes. The group was able to raise $12,000 to assist residents in purchasing appliances. The team was able to aid residents in New Orleans, Louisiana; Moss Point, Mississippi and Grand Bay, Alabama. The group worked under the auspices of Forward Edge International, a mission organization, on site, in the Gulf Coast. Their motto is “ordinary people doing extraordinary things.”
