Semi-annual blood drive scheduled for August 7
In the face of a critical shortage of blood on Long Island, Oyster Bay Town Councilman Joe Muscarella, Town Supervisor John Venditto and Town Councilwoman Rose Marie Walker urge residents to participate in the Town's semi-annual blood drive scheduled for Thursday, August 7. There is a new location with extended hours for donations added for the convenience
of donors. The locations for the blood drives are: Town Hall North at the Blood Mobile, 54 Audrey Ave, Oyster Bay , 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Town Hall South, Room 26, 977 Hicksville Rd., Massapequa , 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Department of Public Works War Room (Highway), 150 Miller Pl. , 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the new location at the William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center, 28 West Carl St., Hicksville , 3 to 8:30 p.m. To qualify as a blood donor, a person must be between the ages of 17 and 75 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated blood within the last 56 days. All blood types are needed, especially O positive and O negative.
The Town will provide refreshments for everyone who donates.
