Priscille Roncallo, a Massapequa resident for over 50 years, hiked one and one quarter

miles with her pug, China, through thick forest, heavy rain and muddy paths, to see Moxie Falls, in West Forks, Maine. The hike was part of a 10-day 80th birthday trip to northwestern Maine. Roncallo was born and raised in southern Maine and moved to Massapequa in 1954, after her husband, Angelo, returned to the area to establish a career in public service. "I did not want a party. I wanted to do something

I have never done before and I have never been to this part of Maine. Maine is the most beautiful state in this country," said the octogenarian. Roncallo's

only disappointment about the trip was the heavy rain that flooded Iowa last month, making it impossible to go whitewater rafting. "I'm 80, but if I'm around next summer, I'll be back for whitewater rafting."
