Massapequa Fire and Rescue volunteers and Nassau County Police rushed to the scene of a motor vehicle accident, at approximately 11 a.m., Aug. 14 on Clark Boulevard, west of Park Boulevard and behind the strip of stores there on the south side.

The driver of a Blue Lincoln, told police at the scene that he hit "something," and then his car jumped over the curb and slammed into a brick wall. He then tried to swerve, and hit a telephone pole.

Onlookers quickly converged on the scene and watched as the driver was given emergency first aid after being cut out of the vehicle by the crew of the Hook and Ladder Company 632 department. Despite the damage to the vehicle, the driver appeared uninjured at the scene and was able to talk to police and rescue personnel, who described him as fine, but "nervous and shaken." - Joanna Fantozzi
