Today's news, Sept. 2, 2008: Locals have ethanol on tap

by Tiffany Elliott Cheap and environmentally friendly gasoline has come to the area thanks to the owners of a local Sunoco station who have brought the corn-based fuel, ethanol, to our area. Ethanol, which has been sold for years in the midwest and Europe, is friendly to the environment and your wallet. Oyster Bay Town Board extends building moratorium in Massapequa for another six months; some opposition

After a year of looking at building zoning codes in Massapequa and attempting to align them with the Town's vision for the future, Oyster Bay Town officials decided this month to extend a moratorium on building and construction. Longtime Amityville and Massapequa resident Philip J. Costa died at his home in Snug Habor, Amityville July 15, 2008. He was 84 and had lived in Snug Harbor for more than 20 years. He was born to Phillip and Fannie (Praeger) Costa on July 30, 1923 in Brooklyn and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. More...
