•The Harbor Lane Library offers space to play intergenerational chess, Fridays, 2 p.m. Registration is requested but not required. Bring your chess set if you have one.
•The biannual Writing Our Stories Literary Tea will be held at the Harbor Lane Library, Thurs., Sept. 25, 1 p.m. There will be a public reading of the works of all group members and all interested parties are invited. Refreshments will be served.
•The Harbor Lane Library will host The Liars Show, Sun., Sept. 28, 2 p.m. Four writers, actors and comedians tell personal stories, but only three of these people are telling the truth. Interrogate the storytellers and expose the fraud.

•Registration is underway for a number of trips: On Fri. Oct. 24, 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. a bus trip to Platzle Brauhaus in Pomona will be offered with a lunch of German specialties. The cost is $68. A bus trip to see the show Jersey Boys will be held Wed., Nov. 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. along with lunch at Sangria on 46th Street for a total of $162. On Tues., Dec. 9, 1:30 to 9:30 p.m. a holiday night light tour will be held in New York City with an early family-style meal at Carmines at 3 p.m. Contact the library for further details.
•The movie Made of Honor will be shown, Thurs., Sept. 25, 7:30 p.m. and Fri., Sept. 26, 1:30 p.m. Doors open one half hour in advance.
•The Short Story Group will meet Mon., Sept. 29, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Copies are available at the reference desk.
•The movie Shane will be shown Mon., Sept., 29, 2 p.m. The movie stars Alan Ladd and Jean Arthur.
•On Wed. Oct. 1, 7:30 p.m. Dr. Jay Hammell will discuss the latest advances in mammography and sonography. He will also discuss treatment options and present general information about osteoporosis screening. Registration is underway.

•Computer Kindregarten for Grownups will be offered Fri., Oct. 3, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $22. This user friendly workshop is for first time computer users.
