Sen. Fuschillo opposes commuter tax

2008-11-12 / Events & Calendar

State Senator Fuschillo has issued a statement on the potential reinstatement of the New York City commuter tax. "Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver today threatened the reinstatement of the commuter tax to raise revenue for New York City by tapping into the pockets of hardworking Long Island commuters.

New York City already benefits from the tens of thousands of hardworking Long Island commuters who spend money in New York City restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues each and every day.

As a Long Island State Senator who successfully fought to repeal the commuter tax nearly 10 years ago and prevent its reinstatement on other occasions, I remain committed to fighting this unfair proposal and will vote against it if it ever comes before the full Senate for a vote."
