North Massapequa resident Joan M. Beck died Nov. 14, 2008. She was 86 and was a three-time cancer survivor.

Mrs. Beck, formerly of Rockville Centre for 47 years, was a member of the Freeport Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary and the Homemakers Association of Rockville Centre. She was a 1943 graduate in Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York and lived on North Oak Street in North Massapequa for the past six years.

According to her family, she was a strong woman who had survived three diagnosis of cancer more than 20 years apart, starting in the 1960s.

She leaves behind her children: Brian, Pamela, Barbe Trogg and her husband Charles and Kevin; her grandchildren: Catherine, Nancy, Kevin, Gregory, Daniel, Nicholas and Bradford. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas H. and her granddaughter Bianca.

Mrs. Beck reposed at the Massapequa Funeral Home, Massapequa Park, on Nov. 16 and 17, 2008. A Funeral Mass was held on Nov. 18, 2008 at the Maria Regina R.C. Church in Seaford. Interment followed by in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury.
