Massapequa Homemakers Council making a difference

Thanks to the generosity of the Homemakers Council of Nassau County, Massapequa Evening Chapter local families were able to receive Thanksgiving dinners on their tables. Homemaker Council Co-presidents Sue Nello and Wendy Gennardo and Coordinator of the food drive Betty DeNicola presented YES Executive Director Jamie Bogenshutz with baskets of food and store gift certificates for this holiday season.

YES, a non-profit community-based organization serving children and families in southeastern Nassau County provides comprehensive services to community members. During the holiday season, the agency works to ensure that families in need can receive food and toys. Committee members for the Homemakers Council are Antoinette Fritz,, Joanne Berger, Barbara Milano, Marion Goldbach, Sophie Braunsdorf, Terry Hennessy, Fran DiSpigno, Dolores Opperman, Gail Langdon, Betty Kelleher, Susan Erdman, Marge Kelly, Madeline Piotrowski, Lucy Agovino and Florence Robbins all gathered to collect, assemble and distribute food to YES Community Counseling Center. Executive Director Jamie Bogenshutz commented that the food collected from these incredible women will be distributed to families that live in our neighborhood and who have fallen on difficult times. "Now more than ever, we must all work together to understand that there is a profound need for food and other resources right here in our own backyards. We are very fortunate to have these talented and generous women in our community." The Council is always looking for new members and can be reached at 798- 6133.
