Seventh Annual Tapestry Ball fundraiser held
Seventh Annual Tapestry Ball fundraiser commemorates 125th Anniversary of The Long Island Home

The Long Island Home's annual fundraiser, The Tapestry Ball, was a resounding success - raising awareness and much needed funds for both South Oaks Hospital and Broadlawn Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The event, held on Nov. 2, at Crest Hollow Country Club, also commemorated the not-for-profit organization's 125th anniversary of providing healthcare and service to the Long Island community.

More than 200 guests, corporate sponsors and supporters were in attendance for the seventh annual ball that honored one of Long Island's most well-known and respected business executives, John A. Kanas. Kanas was presented with the Tapestry of Life Award for his many years of distinguished service in both the financial industry and healthcare community. He is the Former President and CEO of North Fork Bank.

"The Tapestry of Life Award demonstrates our respect and gratitude for Mr. Kanas' outstanding contributions to the Long Island community," said Mr. Robert E. Detor, President and CEO of The Long Island Home.

The charitable event generated funds to assist programs and services at The Long Island Home including the expansion of services for its Adolescent Partial Hospital Program, and the acquisition of new computerized rehabilitation equipment at Broadlawn Manor Rehabilitation.
