Town acquistion of Massapequa Preserve is a good economic and environmental move
by Joseph A. Basile, President Chamber of Commerce of the Massapequas

As per your article, I believe an investment in real property is always a good investment. As a real estate professional with one of our local agencies for years, I know what the return on investment is and has been. If the Town can secure the preserve at a good price (In this case nothing), it makes absolute good sense that we make this deal for the future, not only from a good business stand point but also to secure property already in the Town of Oyster Bay for possible future utilization.

The transfer of maintenance and responsibility to the Town is the right thing to do. It is a win-win situation assuming the ownership becomes that of the Town. Minor upkeep will pay off in the long run

Lets not forget that our parks like John J. Burns and others have been rated #1 in the state. I think Supervisor Venditto and the entire Town Board have a reputation that speaks well for them when it comes to our roads and our parks. From a pure business decision, I believe this long- term investment will have a greater return to the Town and to the quality of life we have come to expect for ourselves and our children and future generations.

I believe we should have trust in our Supervisor and the Town board to take a close look at this project and then to make the appropriate decision that would benefit all of our residents.
