Milton Cornell: retired N.C. public works inspector
by Tiffany Elliott

Loving father and husband Milton R. Cornell loved best to spend his time in nature- cultivating his gardens, hunting, fishing and visiting national parks. The Massa-pequan died December 9, 2007 at the age of 75.

Born in Lakeview section of West Hempstead, he spent more than a dozen years as a volunteer firefighter before moving to Massapequa in 1962. From 1950 to 1954 he served with the Army National Guard.

Until his 1992 retirement, he worked as a Public Works Inspector for Nassau County.

An avid gardener, he tended flower, vegetable and herb gardens at his home and was a talented fly fisherman who liked to hunt small game on Long Island. According to his wife, Mary, he loved to travel to state parks and had visited many of them. He was a longtime member of the Community Church of the Nazarene in Massapequa Park.

Mr. Cornell leaves behind Mary, his wife of 53 years; his daughter, Kim and her husband Allan; his daughter-in-law, Lisemarie; his grandchildren: Kerri, Jamie, Krystal and Michaela. He was predeceased by his son, Donald and his siblings, Eileen Anderson, Vernon, Norman and Frederick.

He reposed at the William E. Law Funeral Home on December 11, 2007. A Funeral Service was held at the Community Church of the Nazarene in Massapequa Park on December 12, 2007 followed by private cremation.
