New Island Hospital receives award for record-breaking blood donation

New Island Hospital announced that the Long Island Blood Services has just recognized the hospital for its record-breaking blood donations, with the award “Highest Number of blood donations” for a hospital their size. The 217 blood donations given in 2007 represented the most ever donated. The hospital will be honored at a special ceremony on March 6 at the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council.

Aaron E. Glatt, MD, president & CEO of New Island Hospital thanked all of the employees who donated or helped in this great humanitarian effort. He said, “Blood supplies are at a critical shortage, and New Island again has a chance to do our part in 2008. Community members are invited.

The next blood drive will be held Jan. 30.
