Former MHS graduate thanks students for supporting United States Troops
The students took part in "Operation Share a Spirit," which sent fleece blankets, DVDs, CDs, books, snacks, AT&T phone cards, holiday decorations and many other amenities to home-sick soldiers for the holidays. Operation Share a Spirit is an annual initiative sponsored by Summit Security Services in Uniondale. "The children's incredibly heartfelt notes promise to warm the hearts of the soldiers as they did ours," said Robert Auletta, Capt. Auletta's father and Co-President Summit Security. "The holidays are a time to reflect on how thankful we are for the troops and their sacrifices. It is our hope these simple gifts will bring a touch of home to these brave men and women." Capt. Nicholas Auletta, who has served two tours in Iraq, went to the grade school to speak with the students and stories and answered the students' questions which ranged from "What type of pets do soldiers have in Iraq" to "Why did we start the war?"
