MHS volleyball Player of the Year signs with College of Wm. & Mary

With the help of their guidance counselors, who have assisted Massapequa High School - Main Campus seniors in the processing of close to a thousand college applications to date, many students are already hearing from some of their top university picks. "The overwhelming majority of the applications we have been processing are early action/ early decision," said Massapequa High School Director of Guidance Lou Sabatini. "As colleges are becoming increasingly selective with each passing year, a greater number of students are applying early because they feel this may give them an edge in terms of being admitted. Being admitted also early means relief from the stress of the college application process which can be overwhelming for some students and families."

One of the earliest Letters of Intent signed by a district student took place on Nov. 16 when Janine Aldridge, captain of the Long Island Championship Volleyball Team and 2007 Nassau County Volleyball Player of the Year signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the College of William and Mary on a full Division I Basketball Scholarship. As a junior, she was awarded All- County status for basketball and was on the second team for the All- Long Island Basketball team.
