Massapequa Public School district hosts MRSA meeting

Although there have been no confirmed cases of the MRSA infection in the Massapequa Public School District, officials in the district offered a free information session that was open to the public on how to prevent the spread of MRSA. Dr. Kenneth Steir, of Nassau University Medical Center, shown, presented at the public forum, stressing the acronym "PTV" - preventable, treatable, vigilance. "The MRSA infection is not only treatable, it is preventable through vigilance, such as frequent hand washing, and attention to other hygiene habits," Steir stated in his remarks to the audience. Following his Power Point presentation, audience members had the opportunity to ask Steir questions that addressed their own personal concerns about the infection.
