Coats for Kids Program collects 1,900 coats
For 15 years, Joan Geagen, her family and friends have been collecting and distributing coats to those in need. Joined by the Knights of Pythias in 1996, this program has grown. On Dec. 8, 2007, almost 1,900 coats were brought to agencies throughout New York to be given to those in need. These coats were donated by residents of the Plainedge area. Proclamations were given to Coordinator Joan Geagen and Sir Lloyd Merson of the Knights of Pythias by Supervisor John Venditto for their many years of service in this effort.
