Massapequa runners score in Heart & Sole 5K Run

The fourth annual Heart & Sole 5 Kilometer Run, was held on the roads of Plainview, Sunday morning, July 15 and runners from the Massapequas were high on the list of award winners.

Local athletes winning age group awards were Kyle Abele of Massapequa, second place 12 and under; Scott Pemberton of Massapequa, third place, 12 and under; Olivia Abele of Massapequa, third place female 12 and under; Danielle Truzzolino of Massapequa, second place female 13 to 14; Christine O'Connor of Massapequa, third place female 13 to 14; Cara Dulko of Massapequa Park, second place female 15 to 19; James Gallagher of Massapequa, third place 60 to 64; Norman Hershkowitz of North Massapequa, third place 65 to 69; Ruth Maller of Massapequa, first place female 75 to 79 and Genevive Brennan, second place female 75 to 79.

With a record-breaking total of 297 recorded finishers, a record-breaking finishing time of 15:47 was set by overall winner Franklin Diaz of Farmingdale. Shirts were presented to each registrant and a raffle was held. This was another successful partnership between Syosset and Plainview Hospitals in the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System and the Greater Long Island Running Club.

The fifth annual Heart & Sole Run will be held in July of 2008.
