Applications available for Civil Service exam

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced that his office has applications available for residents who would like to take the upcoming exam for the position of Correction Officer. The deadline to apply for the exam, which is being offered by the New York State department of Correctional Services and conducted under the auspices of the New York State Department of Civil Service, is February 25.

Correction Officers serve throughout New York State in various facilities of the Department of Correctional Services. They are responsible for the custody and security, as well as the safety and well being, of criminal offenders in State Correctional Facilities. Correction Officers also play a key role in the rehabilitative process for inmates.

The exam will be held on April 12. All applications must be postmarked by February 25.

Residents can obtain a correction officer exam application, as well as a fact sheet explaining the salary and benefits of the position, by contacting Senator Fuschillo's office at 516- 882-0630.
