Amelia Bakalac, of Massapequa, at 78
Born in Brooklyn, she lived on North Suffolk Avenue in North Massapequa for more than 42 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved life, according to her husband, Nicholas. "She loved her friends and family...she led a full and happy life," he said adding that she loved to bowl, play bingo and travel to Atlantic City, New Jersey. For many years she was a secretary for the Association for the Help of Retarded Children's (AHRC) Bowling League. Mrs. Bakalac leaves behind her daughter, Celeste Montello and her husband Vincent of Levittown; her grandchildren: Vincent and Valerie; her nieces and nephews: Robert, Inez, Andrea and Andrew; her great-nieces and greatnephews: Amanda, Peter, Kyle, Olivia, Carly and Ava.
She reposed at the James Funeral Home in Massapequa on Jan. 6, 2008. A Funeral Mass was said on Jan. 7, 2008 at Maria Regina R.C. Church in Seaford followed by interment in St. Charles Cemetery.
