A dog and cat's best friend

Over the past several months, Pet columnist Joanne Anderson has been on an historical search for the location of the Westminster Clubhouse in Babylon and the burial site of the famous canine Sensation. Her columns have been vital and interesting, and have drawn a tremendous amount of interest from our readers, particularly as this year's Westminster competition gets underway.

This week, the story was picked up by Newsday, and the history sleuth had the opportunity to share her work with many more readers on Long Island.

While her research and writing on this topic is wonderful, we believe that she must also be recognized for what she does, week, after week, year, after year, on behalf of animals, many of them the victims of man's inhumanity. She works at shelters in Babylon and Oyster Bay and helps to care and heal the orphans there. She finds them homes and has helped establish a network here on Long Island that works for the benefit of all animals.

We congratulate Joanne on the recognition she has received for her historical work on the Westminster Kennel Club, but more important for her commitment and kindness to God's creatures. We are proud to have her as one of our writers every week.
