Permit right on red at Unqua and Sunrise Major construction along Sunrise Highway in Massapequa is nearly complete and the new configuration and traffic flow patterns are already helping to ease congestion there. We'd like to make one small suggestion, however. Cars traveling west on Sunrise Highway are unable to make a right on red at Unqua Road, and traffic sometimes backs up there. Just west of Unqua, at Broadway, which is in the Village of Massapequa Park, drivers can make the right on red. At both intersections, the traffic patterns are similar, so it seems illogical to allow a right on red at one location and not at the other. Since the object is to get traffic moving effeciently and safely, we think the state should consider changing that signage at Unqua to allow the right on red. It just makes sense.
