Former Massapequa resident Jimmy White at 57

Former Massapequa resident James "Jimmy" Joseph White, Jr. died suddenly on Nov. 11, 2007 at his home in Ocean Pines, Berlin, Maryland. He was 57 years old.

A 1969 graduate of Berner High School, he was a star player on their football team. For many years he worked at Coro Transmission in Massapequa. In 2003 he retired to Maryland and enjoyed many hours of golf, bowling and spending time with his loved ones.

"He was a true optimist and always lent a helping hand," said Louise Barbato a friend for over 35 years.

He leaves behind his wife Kathleen; his son, James Jason and his wife Marcella; his grandson, James Henning; his mother, Frances Cobb White; and his sister, Patricia White Kearney of West Palm Beach, Florida. He was predeceased by his father, James Joseph Sr.

A private cremation was held and his cremains were buried in Ocean Pines, Maryland.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 24, 2008 at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church in Amityville.
