Bellmore Jewish Center Installs New Officers

The Bellmore Jewish Center recently held an installation ceremony during a Saturday morning service and a luncheon to honor officers and trustees who faithfully served for one or more years and to install new leadership for 2008.

President Michael Bigman delivered the keynote address reflecting on his first year of the presidency and thanked all the officers and trustees for serving during his administration, forecasted greater family involvement with services, predicted membership growth, anticipated Hebrew School expansion, discussed plans for implementing the yearlong 50th anniversary celebration and welcomed the new leadership optimistically to work productively with his second year of office.

Rabbi Avraham Rabinowich closed with the benediction blessing and thanked all the discharged and acknowledged officers and trustees for their time, efforts, and commitment in furthering the Jewish ideology at the Bellmore Jewish Center and its community.

The new officers are Michael Bigman, president, Scott Cohen, first executive vice president; Stanley Hochhauser, second executive vice president; Ira Harris, education vice president; Ian Wald, finance vice president; Allan Bergfeld, membership vice president; Joe Weisbord, ritual vice president, Bruce Nelson, ways and means vice president; Rose Levy, youth vice president; Gary Horn, recording secretary and Glen Sher, treasurer.
