Public invited to meeting on RR museum this evening The public is invited to participate in a meeting to further a community vision of the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum. The meeting is tonight, Wed., Feb. 27 at the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center, 45 East Main Street from 7 to 9 p.m. The meeting is being conducted as part of the New York State Department of State Quality Communities Program and hosted by the Oyster Bay Main Street Association, the grant award winner. The purpose of the grant is to fund the planning and design of the public plaza access, and a pedestrianfriendly streetscape of the area surrounding the museum - in a location that provides a vital connection from the waterfront to the downtown. The Oyster Bay Railroad Museum is listed on the New York State and National Register of Historic Places. It served as the home railroad station for Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States. A portion of the funds from the Quality Communities grant has already been utilized to conduct a topographical survey and a Historic Structures Report for the Museum. Trustees of the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum will be available to answer questions about the future plans for the restoration of the train station, rolling stock and turntable.
To reserve a place at the meeting or for more information, please call the Oyster Bay Main Street Association at 516-922-6982.
