Women's History Month presentation to be held March 2

The Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society will note Women's History Month at its meeting Sun., March 2, when Dr. Natalie A. Naylor will present Surviving the Ordeal: Long Island Women During the American Revolution. The session will begin at 2 p.m. at the Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Rd., Farmingdale.

Dr. Maylor was on the faculty of Hofstra University for more than 30 years where she taught Long Island history, women's history and other courses in American history. She was director of the Long Island Studies Institute from when it was founded in 1985 until she retired in 2000, with responsibility for institute conferences and publications. Professor Naylor edited or co-edited several of the publications, including Long Island Women: Activists, Innovators and Journeys on Long Island.

Lawrence R. Jorgensen, president of the Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society, invites all interested area residents to attend this free program to learn about a largely untold phase of Long Island history.
