Promoting tobacco free schools

Members of the Massapequa Public School District health education department were invited to attend a special recognition meeting for being a part of the Long Island Tobacco-Free Schools Project. On Nov. 2, the Western Suffolk BOCES Long Island Regional Support Services division hosted a breakfast for all school districts involved in keeping Long Island high school campuses smoke-free environments. The project, supported by Assemblyman David McDonough, is part of a grant to promote awareness of anti-smoking efforts, of eliminating second-hand smoke on school property and at school events, and enforcing no smoking policies in schools across Long Island.
