Linda Fullum, Massapequa Park resident, at 57

Former Massapequa Park resident Linda Louise (Searby) Fullum died Feb. 9, 2008 in Auburn, Alabama after fighting a short battle with thyroid cancer. She was 57.

Born June 16, 1950 to Louise and John "Jack" Searby, she was raised on New York Avenue in Massapequa Park and graduated Massapequa High School in 1968. After graduating from Oswego and Columbia Universities with a Masters in Education, she returned to Massapequa Park and bought her grandparents' home on Charles Avenue, before moving to Danbury, Connecticut, Lake Murray, South Carolina, and Clifton Park, New York where she retired in 2006 as bookkeeper of the New Meadow School for Autism in Saratoga, New York. She then moved to Alabama to be closer to her family.

Besides being with those she loved, she was an avid golfer, and while living in Albany, made her first "Hole in One."

Mrs. Fullum leaves behind her husband of 37 years, Paul; her children: Joel of Atlanta, Georgia and Kristen Jackson and her husband Robert of Auburn, Alabama; and her grandson: Whitacre Jackson; her father, John Searby of Massapequa Park; her sisters: Laura Nilson of Lindenhurst, Mary Martorono of St. James and Donna Searby of Tryon, Georgia. She was predeceased by her mother, Louise Searby.

She reposed at the Jeffcoat-Trent Coat Funeral Home on February 11, 2008 in Auburn, Alabama. A Funeral Mass was said on February 12, 2008 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn followed by private interment.
