Digital Age Brings Sex To the Desktop

Looking for a prostitute? Gone are the days of trolling through red light districts. Today, you can find anything on the internet, including women of the evening, and the newest locations for illegal massage parlors right on your nearest main street.

In a quick online search, thousands of body work or erotic massage ads come up on web sites like Craig's List, many showing prostitutes with photos and phone numbers. One "beautiful Asian angel" in Suffolk County was bold enough to list her menu: 250 "roses" for a massage, 200 "roses" for option one, and "150" roses for option two.

The underground network of men (and some women) responding to these ads and frequenting these establishments is extensive and they form an underground community, following the "working" women from massage parlor to massage parlor. They keep in touch with other "hobbyists" and use the internet to alert each other to the newest locations, caution each other about the location of police activity and investigations, and rating the performance of the women in each operation. The information is specific and graphic. They advertise rendezvous, lunchtime specials and "discreet" services- for a fee, of course.

Ilegal sex shots have been shut down by police at the following locations: •75 Deer Park Ave., Babylon •1301 Deer Park Ave., North Babylon •1261 Deer Park Ave., North Babylon •1288 Rt. 110 Farmingdale •974 Sunrise Hwy., West Babylon •131B Sunrise Hwy., Lindenhurst •74D E. Hoffman Ave., Lindenhurst •1001 Montauk Hwy., Copiague •618 Sunrise Hwy., West Babylon •62 Arnold Ave., West Babylon •974 Sunrise Hwy., West Babylon
