Coming off back-to-back victories against St. Anne's, the St. Martin's CYO swim team took on second place St. Raymond's of Far Rockaway. The younger swimmers kept the meet close with strong performances by: Natalie McIntosh, Chrisshana Woods, Jackie Flynn, Christine Langan, Teresa Mittleman, Caroline Vindell, Kayla Gilligan, Darby Pandolfo, Hanna Daley, Carly Viverito, Sarah Ellis, Cassidy Rafsol, Katie McCormack, Kerry Ellis, Kendal Mittleman, Julia Imbert, Maggie Olson, Kristen Short, Paige Akalski, and Gabrielle Gardocki for the girls. The boys were led by: Jack Murphy, Billy Gardon, Liam Higgins, Nick Mullen, Noah Bagadonas, Chris DeMarco and Jack Whelan. St. Martins led by 20 points going into the 50 yard races. Faith Daley, Ashley Carter, Shannon McCann, Beth Huges, Grace Hall, Sarah O'Neill, Grace Blackler, Kelly Parker, and Paige O'Neill swam hard for the girls, while Ryan Kerge, Ryan McCann, Brain Oliver, Nick Annitto, Jack Short, Mike Medwig and Tyler Parks led the boys. St. Martins pulled ahead for good winning 11 of the 16 relays for a 229-152 Victory.
The following week brought first place St. Aidan's of Williston Park to the starting blocks. The St. Martin's swimmers swam hard and kept the meet close through the individual races, and St. Aidan's seemed worried about losing their first meet of the year. Trailing by 25 points heading into the relays proved too much to overcome as St. Aidan's pulled ahead and won the meet 236-146.
Just three days later St. Martins visited St. Aidan's for a rematch. Once again a strong performance wasn't enough. Final score St. Aidan's 241 - St. Martins 141. Next up Our Lady of Lourdes as St. Martin looks to get back on track.
