14-Year old arrested and charged with arson

Massapequa: A teenage boy was arrested after hurling a Molotov Cocktail behind Toys R Us and lighting the woods behind the store near Berner Middle School, on fire at 1:35 p.m. The incident occurred March 22, and police said the teen damaged to the rear of the store while starting another fire by dropping a burning wick in the woods behind the store. The juvenile, whose name was not released by police because of his age, was charged with arson and criminal possession of a weapon. The Seventh Precinct, the Massapequa Fire Department, the Arson/Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshall's Office responded to the scene.

The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases against them are pending in the courts. Individuals who have been charged by the police and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges against them were dismissed or that they were found innocent and we we include that information in this space in a timely manner.
