Laura Marenco of Massapequa, a management technology student at Farmingdale State College, was recently selected to receive a New York State Legislative Session Assistant Award. While enrolled in fifteen credits of directed independent study for the spring 2008 semester, Marenco will be in residence in Albany and will work for one of the New York State Senators.
The Farmingdale College Foundation provided a scholarship to pay the tuition in full in recognition of Marenco's achievement.
A transfer student from Nassau Community College, Marenco holds a Series 7 license and worked in the financial sector.
Marenco is the second student to represent Farmingdale State College in this prestigious program. Two years ago, Farmingdale State student Jordan Henner interned with Senator John Flanagan.
