Peter F. Chiacchiaro appointed VP of Human Resources New Island Hospital

New Island Hospital announced the appointment of Peter F. Chiacchiaro as vice president of human Resources. Chiacchiaro comes to New Island with proven professional experience in strategic human resource planning, employee and labor relations, benefit administration, regulatory compliance and education & training in hospital settings.

He possesses a diverse educational knowledge base; a graduate of City College with a bachelor's degree in sociology and masters degree in social work from Hunter College, he went on to obtain a second masters degree in industrial and labor relations from Baruch College/ Cornell University.

Prior to this appointment Chiacchiaro served in upper management positions in Gracie Square Hospital, North Shore University Hospital, Northern Westchester Hospital Center, and Peconic Bay Medical Center. He implemented creative benefit plans that produced high employee satisfaction, a customerservice approach focused on the needs of staff and management, successfully prepared these institutions for Joint Commission accreditation, and led the negotiation teams in both multi-employer and direct contract negotiations with 1199 and NYSNA.

Chiacchiaro is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Society of Healthcare Human Resource Administrators and is past president of the Association of Healthcare Human Resource Administrators of Greater New York.
