Nicholas Krauszer, Amityville resident
Parkview Nursing Home in Mass- apequa. He was 89. "Nick was a gentle, gracious man," said his wife of 59 years, Jeanette. "He was dedicated to his family and country." He was born April 25, 1918 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Albert and Barbara (nee Racher) and spent many years with the U.S. Army both in active service and in reserves. During World War II, he served as Troop Commander to North Africa, Italy, France and Corsica, and earned the European African Middle Eastern Theater ribbon with a Bronze Battle Star and an American Theater Ribbon. For 18 months during the Korean War, he made six trips on Naval vessels where he was in charge of Army groups. He also served many years in the Army Reserves. Mr. Krauszer retired as district sales manager at Nabisco Brands in Paramus, New Jersey, and later worked as a distributor for Swee-Touch-Nee Tea in Lynbrook. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Amityville, the American Legion and the Elks Club. He was also instrumental in getting a neighborhood watch program in his Amityville neighborhood. In addition to his wife, Mr. Krauszer leaves behind his children: Neal George and his wife Susan of Lindenhurst and Lynn K. Tewksbury and her husband Christopher of Islip; his grandchildren: Matthew, Ashley, Neil John, åNicole, Bryan and Lee; his siblings: Albert of Port Charlotte, Florida and Barbara Gebhardt of Milltown, New Jersey. He was predeceased by his brother, Adam in 1968. After a private cremation, Mr. Krauszer's cremains will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Arrangements were handled by Powell Funeral Home in Amityville. Donations in Mr. Krauszer's name can be sent to First United Methodist Church, 25 Broadway, Amityville, New York 11701.
